GEAUX TIGERS, Happy Birthday & Stay Away Gustav!

Oh my .... Today was a day with mixed emotions.

  • Excited for the 1st LSU football game on my Birthday for the 2nd year in a row.
  • Fabulous that it is my 28th Birthday! I am so lucky to have a wonderful husband and a sweet little boy. And also to have some of the best friends I have ever had!!
  • Worried about this Category 4/5 Hurricane Gustav that is heading our way!!

So this morning we went to Mary Lee for doughnuts and then on the way home filled up my car and an extra tank with GAS. After breakfast we decided that we need some more non-perishable food in case we do not have electricity for a couple days. So we went to the a local grocery store because we have heard that Wal-mart has run out of can goods and water. They had everything we needed there shelves were all fully stocked.

We got home just in time to watch the LSU game that started at 10am today because of Hurricane Gustav. Not to long into the game LSU was killing Appalachian State so I was able to play with my new digital camera I got for my birthday from Keith & Grady. It is a Canon SD 1100 Elph (8mp) it is a small one for my purse since my old one died on me.

Then tonight we went to PF Changs for dinner with Adam & Rachel... YUM that was delicious. It was nice to drink a Mai Tai and not worry about the Hurricane for a little while.

Monkey Grady Continued...

So today I cleaned off the Tree House Slide and brought it inside so Monkey-Grady would have more things to climb on. He had a blast... climbing up, sliding down and rolling trucks down ALL morning long.

Then later on I remember that Aunt Peggy had given us some pop up tents so I opened them up and now our living room now looks like a gym. But it kept Grady entertained all day long.

Update:

  • Grady now says “Dog” and points to Winston.

  • He also like to play with shape puzzles, he can put the circle, oval, square, & rectangle in with no problem… Still gets confused with the triangle and the diamond and he does not really try the pentagon & octagon yet.

Monkey Grady

Grady is really becoming a monkey now; he is climbing on top of his play table in his room, on chairs and banging on the coffee table that is made of glass! He has done this ALL day long, so I have been correcting him ALL day long. After dinner I lowered the highchair so he could climb in that and he loved it!

Keith suggested bringing his little tree house with a slide in the house tomorrow so he will have something he can climb on… so I guess I will see how that works tomorrow. I hope it works.

Down we go!!

Today we went to the Louisiana Art & Science Museum with some friends. We all really enjoy coming here it is air-conditioned and contains the kids to one HUGE room. They have a room called Discovery Depot it is designed for children ages 6 months to 9 years. They have blocks, puppets, train set, a pretend kitchen , a playhouse and much more. Grady & I love going so much that we got a Family membership today!

Every time we come Grady loves to climb up to the 2nd story of the playhouse, but until today he has not known how to get down the steps. Well today something must of clicked. As I was climbing up to help him down, he grabbed onto the hand rails and helped himself down the 2 sets of 4 steps. Go Grady!! Then he had to practice his new learn skill 15 to 20 more times, UP & DOWN, up & down, UP & DOWN!!!

FYI: I have been on the hunt for pair of big boy tennis shoes for Grady. MISSION COMPLETE check out his new shoes. It looks so funny seeing him in big boy shoes, but he LOVES them.

Grady's 16 month update!!

Grady now says uh-oh, Dada, hello, no no no, and Mama (sometimes). He signs the words milk, more, eat, please, water & change (when we are going to change his diaper). Even though he does not say a lot of word he "talks" all the time. He also points at things to let us know he wants them. He is starting to follow some simple directions. He can point to his nose and our nose.

Grady is now walking really well, he is starting to run. He squats down a lot, some time he will just squat and play with a toy for a long time (we call that his Sumo pose).

He loves to "read" books by himself and to listen to us read books to him. He is now throwing balls and toys. Grady can stack small blocks and duplo legos. He starting to color a little bit more, but he still likes to "eat" the crayons.

Grady is getting better at feeding himself with spoon, but still uses his hands a lot. He is started hiding behind furniture and playing "Peepo" (how they say peek-a-boo in England, since our trip that is now what we say). Grady got some old kitchen things from Aunt Stephanie & Uncle Bogdan that they did not want anymore and he now likes to "cook" on the window sill while I am cooking dinner.
